Richardson — “Judas” says Carville
“Mr. Richardson’s endorsement came right around the anniversary of the day when Judas sold out for 30 pieces of silver, so I think the timing is appropriate, if ironic,” said James Carville, as reported Saturday by Adam Nagourney and Jeff Zeleny in the New York Times. Richardson’s response, as reported by the UPI: “I’m not going to get in the gutter like that, and you know, that’s typical of many of the people around Senator Clinton. They think they have a sense of entitlement to the presidency.”
Another Clinton adviser, chief strategist Mark Penn, was dismisssive of the endorsement. Said Penn, the time “when it could have been effective has long since passed.” Oh? Somehow this sounds just a tad disingenuous, considering the fullcourt press the Clintons had kept up on Richardson seeking his endorsement since his withdrawal, and the heated telephone conversation he had with Hillary when he called her with the news.
