The Great Mobile Phone Experiment

Modern society, needless to say, is in the grip of wireless technology. All you have to do to understand this is step outside your door. “It just so happens,” [Allan] Frey had told me, “that the frequencies and modulations of our cell phones seem to be the frequencies that humans are particularly sensitive to. If we had looked into it a little more, if we had done the real science, we could have allocated spectrums that the body can’t feel. The public should know if they are taking a risk with cell phones. What we’re doing is a grand world experiment without informed consent.”

Brit Hume Commits The Cardinal Sin: He Professes a Preference for Christianity

Last Sunday, Fox News anchor Brit Hume committed The Cardinal Sin, in the eyes of the Media Elite, when he professsed a personal preference for Christianity, on the air, no less!  What was he thinking!? The Great Keith Olbermann, the Emperor of Snide, and the Arbiter of All That is Politically Correct, handed down the verdict on his own program last night. Gateway Pundit had some pertinent comments on the incident, below:

MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann went after Fox News Channel’s Brit Hume for comments Mr. Hume made about Christianity this weekend. Olbermann’s comparison was so outrageous even his guest, Dan Savage, who was critical of Mr. Hume had to moderate Mr. Olbermann’s remarks.

OLBERMANN: (2:15 in) Isn’t this the classic thing that your mother probably also pointed out to you about never discussing religion in public? You can discuss religion in public. It’s like this that you’re not supposed to do it. This crosses that principle. Keep religious advocacy out of public life since the worst examples of that are Jihadists—not to mention guys who don’t know their own religions or someone else’s religion like Brit Hume.

At Least Somebody Thinks Porn is a Problem

The Chinese government has run a highly publicized campaign against what officials said were banned smutty and lewd pictures overwhelming the country’s Internet and threatening the emotional health of children.

Chinese police said late on Thursday the crackdown on Internet pornography had brought 5,394 arrests and 4,186 criminal case investigations in 2009 — a fourfold increase in the number of such cases compared with 2008.

The announcement on the Ministry of Public Security’s website (www.mps.gov.cn) said the drive would deepen in 2010.

CNN Hires Kathy Griffin to CoHost New Year’s Eve Special. Again?!

Civility loses another round. Apparently CNN was pleased with the ratings and the overall reaction to their new co-host last year. For those of you who don’t remember a few of her lovelier comments, here is a primer:

In the first 15 minutes of CNN’s New Year’s Eve Special, Kathy Griffin managed to antagonize, provoke and entertain in her own unrivaled way. Early comments included, “Can I get a pap smear from Dr. Sanjay Gupta?” “Has Ryan Seacrest been shot?” and, about former CNNer Glenn Beck, “He’s a heroin addict Mormon.”

Why Does Saying “Merry Christmas” Feel Like a Revolutionary Act?

Why Does Saying “Merry Christmas” Feel Like a Revolutionary Act? I went Christmas shopping at the Malls yesterday, since the Red Smith family celebrates Christmas.  At the end of every transaction, in every store, the salesperson or cashier wished me “Happy Holidays.”  My response every time was “Merry Christmas,” and I worried every time that someone would start screaming at me for my lack of political correctness, and that the PC Thought Police and Sensitivity Trainers would start following me as I left the store. Peggy Noonan: Courageous Piece that Will be Ignored by the Media Elites

Mr. Lambert’s act left viewers feeling not just offended but assaulted…

I don’t mean to make too much of it. In the great scheme of things a creepy musical act doesn’t matter much. But increasingly people feel at the mercy of the Adam Lamberts, who of course view themselves, when criticized, as victims of prudery and closed-mindedness. America is not prudish or closed-minded, it is exhausted. It cannot be exaggerated, how much Americans feel besieged by the culture of their own country, and to what lengths they have to go to protect their children from it.

CERN Breakthrough, Strange Lights Over Norway: Coincidence?

Last night the LHC accelerated both beams to 1.18 TeV with 2 bunches per beam for the first time. -Dec 9, 2009

via CERN – the European Organization for Nuclear Research.

The crazy astrophysicists are finally getting to play with their new toy, the Large Hadron Collider, and they announced a speed breakthrough last Wednesday morning. That day, a very strange light phenomenon appeared in the dark skies over Tromso, Norway, a spinning vortex light, the likes of which has never been seen before on Planet Earth. Initial reports suggested a failed Russian missile launch could have caused the spiral lights, but the Russians initially denied such an event had taken place. Later they admitted to rocket launch, but never did so officially.  One theory is now taking hold: that the light vortex was an actual mini-black hole, predicted by such serious theoretical physicists as Otto Rossler. But no worries, says CERN, any black holes they create with their LHC would be the benign type…. they’re quite sure of that.

Here are some images and video of the light show over Norway.

Michelle Malkin on Howard” There is No Such Thing as Pure Fact” Zinn

The two most important questions for society, according to the Greek philosopher Plato, are these: What will we teach our children? And who will teach them? Left-wing celebrities have teamed up with one of America’s most radical historians to take control of the classroom in the name of “social justice.” Parents, beware: This Hollywood-backed Marxist education project may be coming to a school near you.

On Sunday, Dec. 13, the History Channel will air “The People Speak” — a documentary based on Marxist academic Howard Zinn’s capitalism-bashing, America-dissing, grievance-mongering history textbook, “A People’s History of the United States.” The film was co-produced and bankrolled by Zinn’s Boston neighbor and mentee Matt Damon. An all-star cast of Bush-bashing liberals, including Danny Glover, Josh Brolin, Bruce Springsteen, Marisa Tomei and Eddie Vedder, will appear. Zinn’s work is a self-proclaimed “biased account” of American history that rails against white oppressors, the free market and the military.

Sounds like television worth watching. Don’t be fooled by the fact that along with such insightful documentaries as The People Speak, the History Channel also brings America, on a nightly basis, such important history programming as The Nostradamus Effect and UFO Hunters. Perhaps that’s why Howard “There is No Such Thing as Pure Fact” Zinn, has found a home at the History Channel.

Big Brother Barack: Uncle Sam Wants YOUR MONEY

Actually, Uncle Sam NEEDS your money, because Uncle Sam is bankrupt. And bankrupt people, companies and countries do desperate things… like taking money that isn’t theirs.

A new Internal Revenue Service unit set up to catch rich tax cheats hiding their wealth in complex business entities is rapidly taking shape with the hiring of hundreds of employees.

The IRS high wealth unit, part of a broader effort to combat international tax evasion, is focusing on “the entire web of business entities controlled by a high wealth individual,” IRS Commissioner Doug Shulman told a tax conference this week.

Another IRS official told Reuters “hundreds” of people have already been hired to staff the new unit, including some from within the agency.

“We have drawn top talent within the IRS that have expertise involving wealthy individuals as well as examination of their related entities,” said Mae Lew, an IRS special counsel.

Tax authorities in Japan, Germany and the UK have also created similar units.

The U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday approved a $387 million boost for the IRS… in part to fund the high-wealth unit…

The IRS is also opening new criminal offices in Beijing, Panama City and Sydney…

Charles: The Once and Future Prince

The leak will add to speculation that the Queen believes William, rather than Charles, represents the best long-term interests of the monarchy…

The reaction reflects the extreme sensitivity over the issue of the Queen’s future in public life – and how to promote Prince William without undermining the monarch or Prince Charles.
